I graduate this year and decided to start a startup. This is it. I can't tell you the details, but I'm hoping to be one of the early entrants targeting a new, billion dollar market.

Warwick Fashion Group

Recently I've decided to help out more people with their side projects. I do it for free, provided it's only a few hours work and I have fun doing it. Here I helped a friend of a friend with customising the design of their new blog.

Fat Ninjas

Another of the projects I worked on at TribePlay was an idea for a new game, based around the classic game Lemmings. I experimented with a few concepts before finding a very addictive mix of gameplay mechanics, based around characters digging through random caves, looking for gold and redirecting water obstacles.

I'm currently still developing the game for TribePlay as an independent developer. As the game is written in HTML5, we're hoping to get it working on multiple platforms, and aiming to get the iPad version launched within a few months.

GoCardless Demo

I worked for a payments startup based in London, GoCardless, at the end of 2011. I was only there for three weeks, but worked on a few small projects, including this demo website which showcases GoCardless' technology.

If anyone is interested in working with a group of incredibly smart guys, tackling a huge industry, GoCardless are hiring!

Cube Galaxy

I ended up back in Chengdu for the summer of 2011, working for a social gaming startup, Tribeplay. One of the main projects I worked on was the backend for a new Facebook game, Cube Galaxy.

That summer was probably one of the happiest and most productive periods of my life. If anyone is interested in working out in China, TribePlay are hiring!

Computer Poker Player

For my third year project, I wanted to do something challenging involving Artificial Intelligence, so I decided to try writing a pokerbot. I'd played poker a bit at university and thought the strategy was deep, but involved more psychology and uncertainty than games like chess, making it an interesting challenge for computers. If you want technical details, my bot used an exploitative strategy, Miximix, and extended it by using machine learning to create a model of its opponent.

I worked on this project while on exchange in Hong Kong. The project went well (I got an A), though I haven't tried letting it play online.

TwitBallot

In my second year of university I started to get more involved in the entrepreneurship society. Through that, I want to a few startup events, including the Launch48 contest in Birmingham.

The idea was that teams had to launch a working web business in a weekend. There was only one other developer on my team, but luckily we chose a simple idea - an app that let Twitter users easily create polls. Funnily enough, the other developer - Joel Gascoigne - is now working full-time on another Twitter app, Buffer.

ChineseVille

An idea I had in my second year of university - combining language learning Flashcards with Facebook games, so users could "get addicted to language learning". In hindsight, I wish I'd not given up on this project so quickly. The YC startup Lingt launched around the same time with a very similar idea, so I knew the concept had potential

Loft Hostel

In the summer of 2009 I travelled to China for the second time, and ended up staying in the Loft Hostel in Chengdu where I knew some of the staff. They gave me free accomodation for redesigning their website.

Shintolin

Back in 2009 I made a New Year's resolution to teach myself web programming. Shintolin was my first major project, based on an idea for a online multiplayer game I'd had for a while. At its peak, it had over 600 active players.

I can't remember why I stopped working on it now. I learned a lot from Shintolin, both about programming and about managing an online community.
